I’ve created a useful “Nuclear Warfare Survival Package” – these are the seven objects EVERYONE ought to have

A Cold War expert has assembled a “nuclear war survival kit” from items easily found on Amazon and eBay.

Author Taras Young, who wrote the books ‘Nuclear War in the UK’ and ‘Apocalypse Ready’, created the cheap build kit packed with useful survival advice.

He unveiled the equipment amid rising tensions with Russia and fears of nuclear conflict at its highest level since the height of the Cold War.

Serious interest in potential survival advice is skyrocketing as the world anxiously waits to see what Putin does next – and whether he escalates his brutal war with Ukraine by dropping a nuclear bomb.

Young spent years studying the UK’s responses to Cold War fears of armageddon and recently told The Sun Online that the UK was “far less prepared” than before for nuclear conflict.

While he thinks “nuclear war is not survivable”, he says the items in his kit would come in handy later on.

In the description of the video shared on his YouTube page, Young explains: “I tried to build a basic nuclear war survival kit using only items I could order online from UK suppliers like eBay and Amazon.

“Please note – it’s kind of fun! You will definitely not survive a nuclear war – even with this kit.”

In the video, he adds: “It’s not a real ‘survival’ kit for a nuclear war, but it could be useful in these circumstances.”

One of the most crucial items Young lists is a metal entrenchment kit, which he says can be had for as little as £4-5 on Amazon.

The handy tool works like a shovel with a serrated edge that works like a saw and includes a compass at the bottom.

Unscrewing the head and rotating it also allows the tool to be used as a pickaxe.

The second key piece of Young’s kit is a cue mirror with a whistle on the end.

A small hole in the mirror lets you peek through it while signaling any passing aircraft, while a whistle can also alert people nearby.

They can be bought on Amazon for just £6.24.

And a central part of the kit is a pot of potassium iodide.

The pills, which have already been distributed in Ukraine and elsewhere, can be taken in the event of a nuclear event to prevent thyroid cancer.

A pack of 60 pills currently retails for around £15.

In the event of a major disaster, access to clean water is essential.

Therefore, Young’s kit includes water purification tablets.

The pills, produced by drinks giant Oasis, are incredibly cheap, and a pack of 100 can be bought online for just £3.95.

Each tablet can successfully treat up to 5 liters of water each, making it safe to drink.

Young also offers emergency blankets, which can be purchased for just £1.99 each, as part of his essential survival kit.

One of the hardest items to find in the kit is a radiation meter.

The tiny device connects to your phone via BlueTooth and allows the user to take several different readings.

His kit also includes a knife that Young jokes “hopefully” will only be used to cut things, but “you never know” what will happen in the event of an apocalypse.

Other potential useful items in the kit include John “Lofty” Wiseman’s legendary “SAS Survival Guide”, hurricane matches, a micro fishing kit, and a pocket flashlight.

“If that happens, good luck,” Taras says at the end of her video.

Mr. Young reminds us that in the event of nuclear war, no survival kit can really guarantee our safety.

He explained that he came up with the idea for his ‘survival kit’ while suffering from Covid – and needed a task to keep his mind occupied.

If Putin launches a nuclear strike on the UK, these are the three terrifying ways they will tell us.

This comes as Britain’s security chief has warned that the world is “more dangerous” than at any time since the end of the Second World War, thanks to a range of different threats.

Speaking at an event in London, former British government national security adviser Sir Peter Ricketts said that “unpredictable” events, the rise of China and Putin’s aggressive actions in Ukraine were leading everyone down a dangerous path.

Meanwhile, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace was sent to Washington on Tuesday over fears that Putin was about to detonate a nuclear bomb over the Black Sea in a crazed show of force.
