ABU DHABI, June 20, 2022 (WAM) — Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) was ranked 30th globally in its focus areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Vision (CV), Learning machine (ML) and natural language processing (NLP), in the CSRankings list.
The MBZUAI ranking places it ahead of several renowned research universities in the world, such as the University of Michigan, Georgia Tech and the University of Toronto in North America; Imperial College London, EPFL, Max Planck Society in Europe; the University of Tokyo, the National University of Seoul and the University of Sydney in Asia Pacific. MBZUAI can now claim to be the highest ranked CS institution in the Arab world, the Middle East and Africa (the CSR ranking includes Israel as part of Europe).
After two years since the university’s establishment, MBZUAI has been ranked 127th globally among institutions conducting research in computer science, including AI, systems, theory, and “interdisciplinary” fields such as robotics, infographics, visualization, and more. The ranking places MBZUAI alongside institutions such as Notre Dame, University of Liverpool, Weizmann Institute of Science, Osaka University, Ecole Normale Supérieure and other prestigious schools.

CSRankings or computing rankings are “designed to identify institutions and professors actively involved in research in various areas of computing, based on the number of publications by professors that have appeared at the most selective conferences in all areas of computing”, according to the CSRankings website.
