Photographing within the USA: for the happiness of enterprise?

Firearms are displayed during the National Rifle Association (NRA) annual convention on May 28, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

The children were still dying. Innocent lives, who will never have the opportunity to know what their future will be made of, snuffed out along the way by a madman, whom American law authorized to possess an instrument of death, a weapon as easy to obtain as an innocent Christmas toy. . Thus, 19 families have just joined the macabre procession of these hundreds of dead children, guilty of not being bulletproof, which the law should allow to guarantee them. They came to study, their last memory of this world will remain, immortalized in the present, they who dreamed of a future.

The reason for this ongoing macabre tragedy remains an embarrassment to the businessman that I am. Because ? Because these children died so that others could live off their ordeal, so that merchants and industrialists could continue to pay dividends to their shareholders, salaries to their leaders and employees, taxes to society and above all money for election campaigns!

After all, potential death is the end of the chain of a business venture, for which the money outweighs the so-called collateral damage. I wouldn’t be able to look at myself, either in the mirror, or in any mirror in the world if I participated in this type of business, but unfortunately that level of conscience is non-existent in this industry where everyone is to blame.

Small breviary of the good and bad reasons behind this messy, Texan carnage, I apologize:

Trump, at the NRA convention being held at the same time, puts back at the center of the “intellectual and strategic” game the maxim that has underpinned global nuclear military policy for years since the Cold War. If everyone is armed, no one is armed. If you shoot, I shoot. So nobody shoots. dissuasion. Self-protection through excess shared fear. The only winner, once again, is the arms industry. So there is a “principle” behind this freedom of access to firearms, and that principle worked well, long enough, until “crazies” like Iran were able to access it. We then enter into an opposite philosophy, that of “no one else is armed, so that no one else can shoot”. That’s how we started to reduce the armament proportionally on each side. Recent events in Ukraine have officially put an end to this trend. Winner? The weapons industry.

What Entrepreneurs Would Do Better Than Presidential Candidates

The reason is also cultural. In many states, neither the richest nor the most educated, but that’s another problem, offering a weapon is part of a natural and ancestral way of life. We extract from father, mother, sons and daughters. It’s natural. We started with the hunt, yes. We shoot targets on Sundays as a family, yes. The fact, more recently, of feeling the need to “protect” oneself from these “foreigners”, who threaten their image of a white America. Neither worse nor better than in Europe, where neo-Nazi or Islamic movements do nothing. The white race or Muslim fundamentalism, which wants to get rid, in our country (this is “originality”), of the “unbelievers” whose religion has made the target. So let’s stop pointing the finger at these “American gun-toting idiots”, these “red-necks”, we have the same ones at home. Difficult to change a culture, in deserted areas of public services, the police, and that even equipped with a law, would continue to offer their first weapon to their children at 15 years old (sometimes before), because we offer a bracelet, or a rolex, in one or another. Here again, the winner of this culture, which it maintains, is again the arms industry.

The reason also lies in the daily violence of certain cities. This is where it becomes more difficult to deny everyone the right to defend themselves. Defend yourself from daily aggression, daily torture, daily stray or intentional bullets. Who am I, I who live in a privileged environment, to refuse those who already have little, to not be robbed of the little they have, not to lose their lives or that of their children? Letting people fend for themselves is legitimate, because you can’t put a policeman in every house, in every apartment. Thus feeding, once again, the war industry. As in the Casino, she always wins!

Texas Murders: Behind the Gun Control Issue, the Masculinity Crisis

Prohibition is therefore not the solution. In France, where you can’t buy a gun like you buy a smartphone, where you rarely find a gun in Santa’s bag, we can count as surely as in the USA, the long list of innocent dead, whether because they are Jews, in school. (remember Toulouse?), in the hyper-Kosher, or simply non-Muslim, in the Bataclan. You can’t stop the sand between your toes. We can clearly see in France that the only winners of the idiotic excess of radars on the roads, points stolen from the license, are the State and its suppliers, and not our security, which has not been so reinforced. Whoever wants to kill always finds a way. The US is more than 5 times France, there are necessarily more than 5 times the number of victims and attacks. But more easily.

The USA is also the country of paradox. No topless women on the beaches, but light veils that modestly cover every part of a naked body, on the streets of Miami or LA, and that’s no problem. You can’t drink alcohol before age 21, but you can have a weapon of “mass destruction” from age 18. The alcohol lobby does not have the power of the gun lobby. And above all, and this will be my last observation, the alcohol lobby does not have the means (nor the ambition, fortunately) to finance the campaigns of all candidates for Congress or the Presidency. And therein lies the most serious problem. Without gun money, candidates are no longer “armed” to win elections and become slaves to them, dependent at best.

Obama made a fundamental mistake, that of breaking fundraising records for a presidential campaign that was otherwise not won early. With a record to say the least mixed in, he needed to advertise, massively, and he’s broken records that haven’t been equaled since. Several billion dollars to fund your campaign. The bar was now very high, and whoever wants to be elected has to raise money, a lot of money. That’s where armament comes in to finance all candidates willing to swear allegiance in return, including Democrats, contrary to what some press tries to make believe. There are no good Democrats and bad Republicans. The gray line largely reaches the border separating the two parties. The rest is political stance. Even with a majority in Congress, Democrats have never significantly reformed gun ownership regulations.

However it is simple to do. Raise the age at which you can buy a weapon. Increase the “background check”, which would exclude from the easy purchase, a whole series of “donkeys” who should never be able to access it. That would be an excellent first step. We must reduce as much as possible the bad statistics, those that are the result of impulsive madmen, of everyday life, because we will never be able to touch others, those that go through parallel circuits to obtain them and against which the law can do nothing.

Meanwhile, the dividends of death are falling, for arms dealers, for whom shame is irrelevant, and for the NRA, a war machine of unrivaled power, resistant to everything, including images of bullet-riddled children’s bodies. . They see this as a reason to buy more weapons. So I will continue, like any parent of a school-aged child, to wonder if letting my daughter go to school every morning is a mistake I will regret for a lifetime. A question no one should ask.
