  • Meeting for the General Public: “Physics and Information” by Michel Devoret, physicist at Yale University

A free public conference, presented by Michel Devoret, physicist at Yale University (USA), will take place Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 7pmLevy Amphitheater of the Scientific Institute of chargesis (University of Corsica – CNRS – Côte d’Azur University).
Information plays an increasing role in our society, but what exactly is it? A sequence of 0 and 1 symbols? Physically, these zeros and those are represented by the direction of a current in an electronic circuit. Even in the most miniaturized processor, each binary digit involves tens of thousands of electrons. What happens to information when each bit is carried by a single elementary particle, such as an electron or a photon? This regime is that of quantum information and challenges our conception of computation. This conference, aimed at non-experts, will expose the questions posed by the realization of the quantum computer.
