The teacher and researcher Pierre Lemieux died at age 71.

Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Law at Laval University, Pierre Lemieux has played an important role from an academic and professional point of view, particularly in administrative law.

Pierre Lemieux was a professor for 41 years at the Faculty of Law at Université Laval. This researcher was twice dean of the Faculty of Law, whose relationships he developed, including at an international level. He was a visiting professor in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

“Professor Lemieux enjoyed world renown for his work and publications in administrative law, and was recognized for having woven a large network of international relations, particularly in French-speaking organizations, allowing the Faculty of Law and, in general, the Université Laval to develop fruitful partnerships”, greets the Faculty of Law of Université Laval, in a press release.

Pierre Lemieux directed the Quebec Institute for Advanced International Studies at Laval University. He was president of the scientific council of the Jean Monnet Chair in European integration.

The researcher has published numerous articles in specialized journals and collective works. He has written a meticulously updated book on administrative law. He has given numerous lectures around the world, a sign of the quality and reputation of her work.

Once retired, Pierre Lemieux continued to work as an associate professor. He was also the spokesperson for Université Laval on the UL-SPUL collective bargaining committee.

Laval University awarded him the title of professor emeritus “to witness his remarkable career and his continued commitment to the university mission”.

Pierre Lemieux was a doctor of law from the University of Aix-Marseille.

Pierre Lemieux leaves his wife Nicole Dupleas well as his children Nicolas-Pierre and Emmanuelle, as well as four grandchildren and his wife’s two children.
